A SACCO's records should make sense to the people using them.

Mbawa is being developed for the work carried out by registrars, treasurers, loan officers and committees.

The problem we are working on

Someone records a deposit in one book. Another person approves a loan in a different file. A member then asks how much is left to pay, and the answer has to be assembled from both.

Mbawa is intended to make those records easier to follow. The member number ties transactions and loans to a person. Staff can look up entries, review repayments and check the outstanding amount without rebuilding the history each time.

What matters in the product

A member number that is unique within the SACCO.

A reference attached to each recorded payment.

A loan history that shows both repayments and what remains due.

An audit record when financial information changes.

Planning a SACCO deployment?

Mbawa is a software product, not a SACCO or lender. Each society remains responsible for its lending rules, regulatory requirements and accounting approvals.
